Rod Charging

Charging rods is one of the lucrative ways a priest can waste time. An average one-ritual baton can net you a lot of money, depending on the ritual. Rods give non-priests the chance to use any ritual a priest is willing to impress onto a rod. The rod must be consecrated to your god for a ritual to be imbued.

Recent changes have made it so that to be able to hold a rod at all, you need a fairly high bonus in faith.items.rod. Without this bonus, it is impossible to hold onto your rod. Snarf snarf.

Levels Of Charging

  • Barely Visible - Imbued
  • Faint
  • Dull
  • Pale
  • Dim
  • Moderate
  • Softly Pulsing - Impressed
  • Brightly Pulsing
  • Bright
  • Strong
  • Brilliant
  • Dazzling
  • Radiant - Imprinted (once it is imprinted there is no light)

Levels of Impression

  • Imbued: Ritual is on the rod. The ritual will be one use and the rod cannot be consecrated to another deity.
  • Impressed: Multiple uses of ritual. Can't be consecrated to another deity without loss of the ritual(s).

Bestowing Rituals

To bestow a ritual, first you have to find a baton/cane/rod/mace/or special holy NPC (IE: Kess of Sek's spiked black pole). After you have the vessel, consecrate it, then look at it. It should show what parts of it can be imbued with a ritual.

For canes, the ritual with the highest GP cost will go on the handle, and the other on the hook. For rods, maces, etc. there are multiple parts reliant on other parts. The same concept applies; the parts that don't depend on any other part should get the most expensive rituals, and the other parts that rely on them the rituals that cost less.

To charge your rod, (leer), simply hold it and pray. For multi-ritual rods you can bestow all the rituals then charge, or you can charge one ritual at a time.
