Discworld

The Discworld series is written by Terry Pratchett. If you haven't read it, I really suggest you do. It doesn't have much affect on the game from behind your computer, but it'll explain a whole lot of weirdness.

Mostly Random.

The Discworld is a planet somewhere in some multiverse, at sometime. Unfortunately, it's exactly XYZ (and other 23 letters) of location are unknown. However, we are aware that it is one of the most strange planets to ever find it's way onto the back of a giant turtle. The turtle is named A'tuin, with four rather large elephants on it's back. The elephants are named, in no particular order, Berilia, Tubul, Great T'Phon, Jerakeen. And, on top of these elephant's shoulders rests the planet of Discworld, which is, not surprisingly, shaped like a giant disc. The geography of the Disc is quite complex, so complex in fact that it requires a seperate department at the highest ranking University on the planet, Unseen University. A few notable features of the planet include, but are in no way limited to, the Circle Sea, the Sto Plains, Ephebian Desert, the Counterweight Continent, and the Ramtop Mountains.

For the sake of making things much easier, Kefka has allowed us here at the guide to use his maps. He has been updating them for some time, but would like to point out that Airk is the original creator of the map. A big thank you to both of them.

Maps of Discworld

Areas of the Discworld

The Discworld MUD has a few distinct regions: Sto Plains, The Ramtops, Uberwald, Genua, Counterweight Continent, and Klatch.

Sto Plains

The Ramtops

Uberwald

Genua

Counterweight Continent

Klatch

  • Eritor
  • Al-Ybi
  • The El Kinte Peninsula
  • Gebra
  • Otherz
  • Djelibeybi (Listed separately than Klatch in the Newbie Area but it's on the same continent)
  • The Upper Djel River
  • D'reg - Somewhere in the Desert

Others

These are areas not currently in game but that you can choose. They are more difficult to start in as they have their own languages in some cases and where you start might have a different language.

  • All information is found on the sign in the Newbie Area.

Istanzia

For a long time the nation of Istanzia lived in fear of the Omnian Empire which nibbled at the Istanzian villages on their border. Istanzia is a river kingdom based along the Istanzia river flowing into the Circle Sea from the mountains of Klatchistan.

  • Istanzia

Tsort

On the rimward side of the Circle Sea, Tsort is a large desert country bordered on the north by the Klatchian Empire and the south by the river kingdom of Djelibeybi.

  • Erebos
  • Tsort

Selecting Tsort will start you in the bazaar in Djelibeybi. Your language will be Djelian which is the common language of the people of this sandy place.

Omnia

Omnia is a dry country on the Klatchian coast, perfectly situated to bear the full brunt of the desert's winds and the desert's peculiar capacity to nourish gods. One such, Om, inspired a great monotheistic empire of millions, before the Prophet Brutha turned the Church to a different path, of respectful - if energetic - discussion, schism after schism, and Visiting the Infidel with Pamphlets.

  • Il Drim
  • Kom

Selecting Omnia will start you in the Ephebian Desert, in an oasis in the middle of nowhere. Be sure to buy your supplies before or contact a Taxi or Cabbie to give you a lift out. Your language is Ephebian, which is rarely spoken outside of the desert.

Howondaland

When people talk of the 'dark and mysterious continent of Klatch' it is Howondaland they are referring to. Its borders are imprecise, since they begin where those of other countries on the Hubwards coast of Klatch fade away (that is to say, where surveyors don't come and mapmakers are found nailed upside down to a tree).

  • Zabingo

Selecting Howondaland will start you in the bazaar in Djelibeybi. Your language will be Djelian which is the common language of the people of this sandy place.
