<title>The Lancre Hunters</title>
    <link>http://hhgtd.atwiki.com/page/The%20Lancre%20Hunters</link>
    <description>
      So you're interested in the Lancre Hunters, are you? The hunters are a proud and noble guild, not smelly at all, honest! The Hunters have a good set of primaries, including crafts.hunting.tracking, other.climbing.tree and crafts.medicine.firstaid, which are both useful skills in general. The hunters aren't all that hard to get to, being just northwest of Ohulan-Cutash. The Guild provides everything a budding hunter needs: a smithy, a tannery, and a guild shop full of weapons and leather.

Hunters' Primaries
    * crafts.hunting.tracking
    * crafts.hunting.trapping
    * crafts.materials.leatherwork
    * crafts.medicine.firstaid
    * fighting.defence.dodging
    * fighting.defence.parrying
    * fighting.melee.axe
    * fighting.melee.dagger
    * fighting.melee.mace
    * fighting.melee.sword
    * fighting.points
    * fighting.range.bow
    * fighting.special.tactics
    * fighting.special.weapon
    * other.movement.climbing.tree

----

Tracking is a handy skill if you don't want to spend the XP and/or money to be able to use the various methods of finding people that are available to Priests, Wizards, and Witches. Tracking is also faster and, while potentially not as accurate (I haven't tested it fully yet), will help you find your way better than seeing the room a person is in or the general direction that can have you running in circles for hours on end, much to the amusement of your prey.

    <title>Rod Charging</title>
    <link>http://hhgtd.atwiki.com/page/Rod%20Charging</link>
    <description>
      Charging rods is one of the lucrative ways a priest can waste time. An average one-ritual baton can go for anywhere between 4 royals to 10 royals, depending on the ritual. Rods give non-priests the chance to use any ritual a priest is willing to impress onto a rod. The rod must be consecrated to your god for a ritual to be imbued.

Levels Of Charging
*Barely Visible - Imbued
*Faint
*Dull
*Pale
*Dim
*Moderate
*Softly Pulsing - Impressed
*Brightly Pulsing
*Bright
*Strong
*Dazzling
*Radiant - Imprinted (once it is imprinted there is no light)

Levels of Impression
*Imbued: Ritual is on the rod. The ritual will be one use and the rod cannot be consecrated to another deity.

*Impressed: Multiple uses of ritual. Can be consecrated to another deity.

*Imprinted: Permanent use. Can be consecrated.

    <title>Newbies</title>
    <link>http://hhgtd.atwiki.com/page/Newbies</link>
    <description>
      First and foremost, welcome to Discworld! This MUD is very easy to play once you get the hang of how to do things (which doesn't take too long). I'll list the very basics here as well as a few commands that will help you learn and explore the greatness that is Discworld.

If you need help, you can use the Newbie channel or 'who newbiehelpers' and send one of them a tell.
----
Your First Steps
When you first begin your journey, you'll start in what is affectionately known as the Newbie Area. Move around and explore, using the names of the exits to leave the foyer. To get out of the Newbie Area you have to find the womble's brooch. Just 'search' in each room until you find it, then give it to the womble. After that's done, go into the commerce room and buy a few clothes and weapons, then go to the combat area and get some fighting skills. Here is a good time to set 'monitor on'. It'll monitor your health, guildpoints, and experience by showing them to you every second or two during combat. After you're happy with your fighting and have finished wombling about the area, go back to the foyer and go out.

Here there is a sign that will tell you about everywhere you can choose to start out in on Discworld. The most popular is Ankh-Morpork simply because it's the easiest place to start. Some places have specific languages, and you can learn others from various language teachers.

After you choose your starting point, you'll end up in a room in your chosen area. The room is the same every time for every newbie. Look at the exits that are available and choose where you want to go. For directions, you can just use the first letter or abbreviation to leave that way (IE: north - n, northwest - nw).

Experience and money are two key things on the MUD. That's true for a lot of games, really. Starting out is difficult because you don't have very much money and very little fighting skills. 'Consider' anything you're about to attack as if it is too strong you have a very good chance of ending up dead. If you know what guild you want you can go there right away and join it in the appropriate room (if you don't have a map just walk around and type join until you've found the room. It'll probably say syntax join when you're there). Once you join your guild, fighting is one of the first things you should advance. They're the basic skills that you'll need to survive and prosper.

Happy hunting!

----
Important Commands
If you want to know more about a certain command or soul, feel free to use syntax or help to find out
Talking to people is a major part of the MUD as well. The commands for talking to people in the same room as you are say or sayto (player name).
To shout something that will be heard for a couple of miles around, use the yell command. Shouting '8' will get you logged off so it's a good one to know if you're getting chased by a watchman or the like and/or are about to die.
To talk to someone who isn't in the same room, use tell (player name) (message).

Talkers are also an important form of communication. Every region has a talker shop (IE: In Ankh-Morpork, the shop is two south, two east, and south of where you start) where you can get a talker. There is also a spell that can transform items into talkers, or you can visit Jorodin's in Ankh-Morpork to have an item converted for A$1. Once you have a talker you can add or remove channels. You can only listen to guild channels if you're part of that guild, and also a few other channels you have to be part of the organization they represent to listen to the channels (Like the Apex Club).

When you're looking for something to kill, use 'consider' to see if it's possible for you to kill them. While you're fighting, 'health (character)' or 'health all' will show you about how close they are to dying. 'Kill' or 'attack' will start the fight unless the character has attacked you already.

Grouping with other players is a faster and (somtimes) safer way to gain experience and money. While grouping there are a few commands you can use to communicate ('group say', 'group emote', 'group report' which gives a general idea how your health and guildpoints are holding up), as well as 'group assist' which will automatically throw you into the fray when you notice the groupmate you're assisting is being attacked.

Souls are a fun and inventive way to express yourself on Discworld.

Gufnork's followers receive the rituals: Cure Light Wounds and Summon Fluff.

Worshippers receive bonuses when performing rituals when they are: Near holy ground, at a high altar, or ?

    <description>
      Mostly Random.

The Discworld is a planet somewhere in some multiverse, at sometime. Unfortunately, it's exactly XYZ (and other 23 letters) of location are unknown. However, we are aware that it is one of the most strange planets to ever find it's way onto the back of a giant turtle. The turtle is named A'tuin, with four rather large elephants on it's back. The elephants are named, in no particular order, Berilia, Tubul, Great T'Phon, Jerakeen. And, on top of these elephant's shoulders rests the planet of Discworld, which is, not surprisingly, shaped like a giant disc. The geography of the Disc is quite complex, so complex in fact that it requires a seperate department at the highest ranking University on the planet, Unseen University. A few notable features of the planet include, but are in no way limited to, the Circle Sea, the Sto Plains, Ephebian Desert, the Counterweight Continent, and the Ramtop Mountains.
